Sculpturally shaped flat steel stringer staircase | COMCENTER

2021, Erfurt

In the newly opened COMCENTER in Erfurt, the double-flight flat steel stringer staircase impresses as a custom-made design object.

COMCENTER celebrates comeback

As an attractive business location, the COMCENTER operated by Landesentwicklungsgesellschaft Thüringen mbH reopened its doors in summer 2022 after an extensive modernization phase. Contemporary and equipped with state-of-the-art technology, the event building is centrally located in Erfurt's Brühl district and offers professional conference and meeting facilities for digital, hybrid and analog events. Versatile equipment, acoustic walls and creative furniture enable open and variable working formats for up to 180 people in a comfortable atmosphere. LEG Thüringen, whose headquarters are directly adjacent, is responsible for business development and real estate management in the Free State of Thuringia and is committed to the further development of the investment and technology location.

Flat steel stringer staircase for high-tech location

With its dominant character, the cantilevered flat steel stringer staircase connects the basement with the first floor of the conference and congress center, where trade fairs can be aligned alongside workshops, meetings and conferences. The interior design contrasts raw concrete and plain surfaces with black steel, wood and colorful accents. As a sculptural installation, the flat steel stringer staircase with rounded intermediate landing meets the existing spatial situation of the 20-year-old original administration building and sets strong accents with its design and materials. On the first floor, a ceiling parapet was designed to match the black flat steel stringers as a lining for the pulpit, which is part of the DenkDeck designed as a co-working space.
